You are directed to this site for a very specific purpose.  Please don’t mind the web address is National Shoe Day.  It is a project I am working and will unveil in greater detail during the Fall of 2010.

To be brief, I have accepted my friend’s request to let my community, friends and interested others  be a contribution.   This is situation:

My prescription drug costs are over $26,000 per year.  Currently I have coverage with Medicare, Part D.  Unfortunately there is a situation called the Donut Hole.  See  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donut_Hole_(Medicare) Click on link.   Over the last few years, I paid the Donut Hole from my savings, but this year my monies are depleted.   My 1st level of coverage was fully utilized by March 2010.  Since that time, my access to medication has been sporadic and uneven until I can pay the full co-pay — or Donut Hole.  With the assistance of Dekalb Board of Health, Ryan White, Absolute Care, staff at Aniz, Inc.,  and other friends with expired prescriptions we have scraped together some medication over the last six months.

At this point, what has to happen is paying the out of pocket costs for two months (or $1,100 every two weeks) until I hit the “catastrophic” level – and the copay/deductible/premiums drop to $138 per month.  Thank you to all those who have contributed –  2 weeks down — 6 more to go!!!!    Next expenditure is $1,078 on August 27 or August 30.   Raised $270 –  $9oo more needed.

There are no other State of Georgia or other government programs that I qualify for –  to assist with the Donut Hole.   And no generic drugs are available to lower the cost.

It’s hard to be this open with what going in one’s life.  And I greatly appreciate your considering my friend’s requests to get me through this period.

My commitment is to fulfill the on the vision of JMTF in collaboration with other organizations.  Thank you for making it happen by assisting me with my own health.

This has opened up a new opportunity.  There are nearly 3.5 to 4 million people impacted by the Medicare D Donut Hole, many are Senior Citizens on a limited income.  I contacted a national doughnut chain and asked if they would discount their doughnuts so we may raise monies for others.  “Doughnuts for the Donut Hole.”  Answer — YES.  A new web site will soon be announced offering YOU doughnuts to cover the Donut Hole for others.

The Vision:

A world where –

Harmony is as profitable as Conflict

Cures are as profitable as Diseases

Collaboration is as profitable as Partisanship
